Quantitative Covid Antibody Testing

Antibody testing can detect whether a person has been infected previously with the SARS Covid-19 virus, or has developed an immune response after Covid-19 vaccination.

We are pleased to be able to offer a new CE marked Roche quantitative Covid IgG/IgM total antibody testing service at our practice in Sutton Coldfield. The test determines the presence and level of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. It can show whether a person has already been infected, and has developed some immunity to the virus, and will also measure the antibody level of a vaccine-induced immune response.

Tests are carried out as a supervised self test finger prick blood sample, which is then sent to our UKAS approved laboratory partner.

Results are returned to us within 24 hours of receipt of the sample at the laboratory. The test determines the strength of a patient's antibody response to the virus, expressed as a numerical value, specifying the level of antibodies in your blood. This then gives a baseline level for any testing you may have in the future. The relevance of a positive antibody result is not yet clearly defined, but the confirmed presence of antibodies is believed to provide protection against Covid-19 for up to 6 months, and maybe more

N.B. Patients must wait at least 14 days following exposure, onset of symptoms or after any Covid vaccination they have received before taking this test.
